DreamPipe

An interactive installation piece. This ran for four nights in downtown Portland. Infrared cameras picked up movement from visitors and mapped that as flowing particles on a semi-circular screen.

Details

DreamPipe is an immersive sculpture that envelops visitors in a dynamic space. Imagery is projected from behind onto translucent screen segments arranged in a ‘half-pipe’ structure, while hidden, embedded IR cameras track visitor outlines and motion.  The ‘brains’ of DreamPipe convert what the cameras capture into colorful, fluid particles and map them onto the screens.

This transformative experience transports visitors into a realm of light, and invites exploration and interaction. As visitors move, swirls of particles mimic and echo back their movements, encouraging full body, playful interaction. DreamPipe invites running, dancing, and the waving of limbs, offering a unique and engaging experience for all who enter its luminous domain.
