Laminae Finetra explores imagined geological layers made from the materials of our present. I was drawn to the idea of future sediment composed of discarded plastic and foam—artifacts of consumption embedded in luminous strata. Using projection mapping and recycled HDPE, I wanted to create a kind of illuminated cross-section, visible through the window, that quietly asks what we’re leaving behind—and how it might still hold beauty.
This piece combines rear-projected video textures on translucent layers of recycled HDPE with front-projection mapping onto embedded styrofoam forms. It was designed as a flat installation for window display. two different sequences of visual compositions, one on the front and one on the back, play slightly out of phase, so the piece seldom totally repeats.
