This site is about the performance work of Scott K James (aka Scott Keva James). I make things with light and time. I play.
Or you could say the medium is light, the technologies
are video, software, and electricity and the variables are dimension,
time, the illusion of motion. I try to recreate the kind of daydreams
that happen in my head.
I'm not so much narrating or telling a story as
I am following a lead, exploring. I'm always looking for the ultimate moment where
my focus inverts and I lose the sense of self, of location, and find myself
in the flow, out of normal time, completely in the moment. That's what
I call playing.
This is a mind state or feeling I used to associate
mainly with playing music. The focus on the piece falls away and the thing
being created transcends the creator(s), transcends its parts. Now I pursue
this same thing in the visual medium, still using my sense of rhythm,
phrasing and time-based composition.
I'm sometimes available to do live mixing,
interesting visual installations, etc. I'm always interested
in finding like-minded musicians and/or visual artists to work
on live, audio/visual integrated works.
